Older version of [personal profile] fogboundcrow

• Spent the past five years since Persona 4 in the loving care of the Dojimas, surrounded by the friends he'd made, and as a result has become a much happier, healthier person. In his time at Yasogami High, he became an honors student, head of the student council, the darling of the drama club, and overall has come a long way since his troubled childhood.

• Protege of Naoto Shirogane and associate of the Shadow Operatives. The two of them have worked together to solve cases, but he's yet to make a big, public debut. It's known that there is a successor to the Detective Prince, but Naoto has been hesitant to place him in the media's crosshairs just yet.

• For the last two years, has been following a strange case of cognitive changes that began with the sudden amnesia of Wakaba Isshiki. As one of the leading cognitive psientists, this caught the attention of the Shadow Operatives even before prolific people within business, industry, and politics began showing abrupt changes in behavior, alliances, and even personality.

• At the end of his second year at Yasogami High, he is given an opportunity to act as a covert operative in Tokyo, where the majority of the cognitive anomalies seem to be concentrated. Eager to prove himself, he accepts the offer and arrangements are made to send him to Tokyo as a student at Shujin Academy under the care of Sae Niijima. This, unfortunately, means saying goodbye to the peaceful home that changed his life.

• Not long after he arrives in Tokyo, a strange cat starts to follow him around. He also finds Shujin a troubling school, with Suguru Kamoshida's treatment of his students triggering red flags right away. The one saving grace is a familiar face as a homeroom teacher, Margaret, who's been placed at Shujin by the Kirijo Group to keep an eye on Goro and due to the presence of Haru Okumura, daughter of one of the main benefactors of the cognitive anomalies.

• He makes some early connections, like Sojiro and Futaba Sakura, while he's trying to get his bearings, and the two of them are among the first to learn of his status as an undercover detective investigating the cognitive anomalies that robbed Futaba of her mother. Naturally, she's eager to assist, despite Sojiro's concerns.

• Tries and fails to raise concerns about Kamoshida's behavior to the principal, earning the respect of Ryuji Sakamoto. Akechi also joins the Student Council, though with the caveat that his job may pull him away from meetings. He also learns fairly early on from Futaba that the first year girl, "Kasumi" Yoshizawa, may be another victim of the brainwashing, as her true name is Sumire, and she's started acting like her dead sister.

• Befriends Ren Amamiya the day he arrives, having heard of his arrival prior. Having once been a child shunned by society, Akechi is eager to form his own opinions and, while cleaning the attic, hears him out about his conviction and offers to use his resources to try and overturn it. Ren is deeply touched by this, establishing a close bond even before the Metaverse.

• Speaking of the Metaverse, after his initial meeting with Ren, that strange cat appears to him again, and Akechi concludes it's similar to the shrine fox in intelligence. He asks the cat if it wants to show him something, the cat nods, leads him along until, suddenly, Akechi's thrust into Kamoshida's palace with a goofy looking mascot cat. He can feel his Personas, but needs to have a "moment of rebellion," his Shadow tells him, before he can utilize the power again.

• One infiltration later, upon seeing Shadow Kamoshida with cognitive Ann Takami, his fury burns bright and he reawakens in the Metaverse... at the cost of setting the palace's security level to 100% after he absolutely decimates some Shadows Kamoshida sics on him.

• Two days later, he's forced to pursue Ren and Ryuji into that same palace with Morgana in tow. With so many Shadows already on high alert, Akechi and Morgana do what they can to fight back, but without adequate SP recovery items, Akechi's heavy use of Megidola rapidly wears him out. Ren, realizing it's Akechi, feels a deep desperation to help fight and awakens to Arsene in a blaze of glory that steals Akechi's breath away.

• The combined efforts of the three clears the Shadows out, the gang narrowly escapes, and Akechi is left with the realization that he's going to have to be responsible for these two now that they both have the MetaNav. Initially, he's apprehensive about changes of heart due to their similarities to the cognitive anomalies, but is eventually swayed after further interactions with Shiho Suzui and Ann Takamaki, coupled with the rumors surrounding Ren, make him realize something must be done.

• Ends up co-leading the Phantom Thieves alongside Ren, with Ann joining in short order. Along the way, he's forced to juggle school with his investigation and figure out how this new Metaverse works along the way. There are ups and downs as the team grows and word of a "Nice Mister" who uses Mementos in conjunction with a mysterious maiden in a black mask prove that the Phantom Thieves are not alone in their escapades into the cognitive world. The presence of Takuto Maruki at Shujin also raises many red flags in Futaba's eyes, due to his connections to Yoshizawa.

• Ultimately stressed from his new position of leadership over inexperienced Persona users, his double life as a detective and a Phantom Thief, and his fear of not only failing the others as a leader and senior Persona user, but of disappointing Naoto, Mitsuru, Sae, and his family for his involvement in vigilante justice.
